PACKET PICKUP? PARKING? DAY OF RACE REGISTRATION?
Packet pickup and day of race registration will be available from 7:00-8:00 a.m. the morning of the race at the Corryton Community Center, 9331 Davis Dr, Corryton, TN 37721. Primary race parking will be in the field next to the Community Center. Overflow parking will be in the church parking lots on Foster Rd.
What charity does this race support?
Race proceeds benefit the Corryton Hospitality Food Pantry. We are open from 9AM until noon the second and fourth Thursdays each month. Some modification in dates is necessary during November and December holidays. We are totally non-profit and have no administrative expenses at all for personnel. All work is volunteer, and nearly 200 volunteers are available as they are needed. Contributions, money/food, and other needs come from individuals, community churches, businesses and food drives. Food products come primarily from 2nd Harvest with whom we have worked for perhaps the past 20 years. We have a good working relationship with them, and the food (sometimes as much as 30,000 pounds during holidays) is delivered to the pantry located in rooms available at Rutherford Memorial United Methodist Church in downtown Corryton. All monies received goes toward purchasing food to be distributed. We do have to purchase grocery bags for the food and also make a small donation to the church to help defray electrical costs (we have eight freezers). The pantry is open to anyone needing food, and our requirements are minimal. Distribution on the 2nd Thursday is from items that the pantry purchases or has donated. Distribution on the 4th Thursday includes not only purchased food, but U.S.D.A. items, for which we have to go by their guidelines which only requires one of several types of ID and a small bit of info regarding income. There are no "boundaries" as to who can receive food (at one time we had patrons coming from as many as 20 zip codes). At Christmas we have a large drive-through distribution of stuffed animals, toys, children's games, books and puzzles. No one that seeks help at the pantry has to make a payment for any thing that they receive.
